Ice Cream Parlors in Miami

There's no doubt Miami is known for its year round hot and steamy temperatures. One delicious way to keep cool as the mercury rises is to indulge in a cup or cone of your favorite flavor of ice cream. Here's a list of our favorite local ice cream spots in some of Miami's various neighborhoods:

Walls, South Miami: Located just across the street from the famous Big Cheese Restaurant, Wall's Ice Cream is the old-fashioned ice cream parlor that everybody loves. The classic red and white awnings and canopied outdoor tables will take you back to the 50s. In addition to dozens of homemade ice cream flavors they also serve up some delicious fudge! We've heard kids under 36 inches get a free cone... so be sure to ask. Also, don't forget to bring your pooch; the friendly staff at Wall's provides pets with free frozen vanilla treats! Located at 8075 SW 67th Avenue, Miami.

Whip n'Dip, Coral Gables: This small neighborhood favorite located just down the street from the Shops at Sunset Place has something to please everyone. Ice cream flavors that change daily, sugar-free options, lite cream (soft serve), shakes, dozens of delicious toppings, and a mouth-watering section of baked treats. Be sure to keep Whip n'Dip in mind around any holiday... they've always got amazing cookies, cakes and treats that are seasonally themed (by flavor and decor). Unfortunately, it's common to see a line running out the door of this place but well worth the wait! Located at 1407 Sunset Drive, Miami.

Dolce Vita Gelato Cafe, Coconut Grove: Although Dolce Vita has a few locations in South Florida, our personal favorite is it's little cafe in Coconut Grove. Although it's a little pricey, it's a clean and friendly place that's sure to satisfy your ice cream or gelato cravings and fans rave it's got the freshest ingredients in town. Conveniently located on Main Highway with late hours, it's the perfect way to cool off after a night out in the Grove. Choose from a variety of unique flavors like coconut, passion fruit, eggnog, peanut butter, pistachio, tiramisu, and more. Located at 3462 Main Highway, Miami.

Sloan's Ice Cream, Boca Raton: Not quite Miami, but well worth the drive if you're as serious about ice cream as we are! Sure they have amazing homemade flavors like coffee and doughnuts or black and white malt, soft-serve, smoothies, scrumptious baked-goods, novelty merchandise, unique gifts and friendly service. But perhaps the best thing about Sloan's is their famous bathroom with 'see-through' doors. Both tourists and locals flock this place to watch the glass doors fog up as you turn the lock. Located at Mizner Park 329 Plaza Real, Boca Raton.

Kilwin's, Fort Lauderdale: Our personal favorite! From the moment you enter, the sweet smell will lift your spirits. With fresh fudge and candy coated apples to your left, sweet treats and chocolates to your right, and home-made ice cream straight ahead you'll truly be in heaven. This place offers unlimited free samples so don't feel bad about trying as many as possible including turtle, cake batter, blueberry and Oreo. If you're a fan of waffle cones, the ones at Kilwin's come highly recommended. Surrounded by the great boutiques of Las Olas Boulevard, it's a great little area to do some window-shopping while you savor every last bite. Located at 809 E. Las Olas Blvd, Fort Lauderdale.
