Things to Do with Pets in Las Vegas
Las Vegas, also known as the City of Sin, is a glitzy destination that offers indoor shows, concerts, lavish casinos, and much more. Few would think of Las Vegas as a pet-friendly vacation destination since most of the attractions are indoors and therefore do not allow people to bring their dogs. Surprisingly, however, Vegas is actually home to a number of activities and attractions that your four-legged friends would enjoy.
Go on a Walk
Although you can’t take pets into most of the hotels and casinos on the Strip, you can take a leisurely stroll with your dog along the sidewalks of Las Vegas Boulevard. Your dog can accompany you on self-guided walking tours of the city.
If you’d like to explore the scenic desert surrounding Las Vegas, take your dog on a walk on one of the many hiking trails in the area. The Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area is a popular park located approximately 30 minutes away from the Strip that boasts a fascinating blend of limestone ridges, red rock formations, and mountains. Leashed dogs are allowed on most of the hiking trails in the park. There are also several off-leash dog parks within city limits that you and your four-legged friend can enjoy, such as the Desert Inn Dog Park and the Molasky Park Dog Run.
Indoor Attractions
If you prefer to visit indoor attractions with your pet, try visiting the Shelby American Museum, which showcases the manufacturer’s latest cars, as well as their vintage models. The Shelby American Museum is adjacent to the company’s manufacturing facility, which also features a testing ground. Well-behaved, leashed dogs are allowed in the museum and on the automobile production tour they offer.
Kennels
You may not be able to take your dog with you when you gamble at casinos, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to leave your furry friend at home. There are some daytime dog boarding facilities located just a stone’s throw away from the Strip where you can leave your pet while you hit the slot machines.
Pet-Friendly Accommodations in Vegas
For Vegas first-timers, the most challenging aspect of taking your pet with you on vacation may be finding a place to stay, but you’ll be relieved to find out there are an abundance of hotels in the city that allow pets. If you want to stay on the Strip, keep in mind that there are only two lodging options that allow pets: the Four Seasons Hotel and the Circusland RV Park. The Four Seasons accepts dogs and cats that weigh less than 25 pounds, as long as they are fully trained. The Circusland RV Park is home to 399 pet-friendly spaces, as well as several dog runs.
If you don’t mind staying in another part of the city, there are several pet-friendly hotels to choose from, including the Trump International Hotel, Comfort Inn, La Quinta, Candlewood Suites, and Motel 6. You can also opt to stay in a pet-friendly vacation rental if you prefer the intimate atmosphere of a private residence.
