San Francisco Hotel Deals | San Francisco Cheap Hotel

The positive news for travelers living in a down economy is that leisure expenses, like airfare and hotel rates, are significantly lowered during times of economic strife. In San Francisco, hotels and resorts have braved the recession by slashing prices to boost occupancy. Not an ideal situation for San Francisco hoteliers, but the discounts have definitely enticed travelers with a little extra cash to spend. Hotels and restaurants in popular tourist areas like Fisherman's Wharf and North Beach are seeing increased traffic. But will the upcoming months offer affordable San Francisco hotel deals?
The short answer is yes, though travelers can expect to see a slight increase in the average nightly rate. The economy might be on the road to recovery, but not many people are willing to fork out the hundreds of dollars for a one-night stay typical for the more upscale luxury hotels. With San Francisco hotels still offering lower-than-average prices, now is a great time to plan your vacation. Travel trends suggest that July and August will still see the highest citywide hotel occupancy rates, while business travel will peak in September and October, during the large conventions. Avoid crowds and potentially higher hotel rates by planning your San Francisco trip in the fall or winter (between November and April), but not during the busy holiday season. The only question left is where to stay.
The biggest concentration of hotels in San Francisco is in the downtown area of Union Square. Although you can find the best hotel deals in areas outside of the city, getting into town can be a hassle if you stay in outlying areas. Those looking for great views of the Bay should consider staying in the Financial District. Nob Hill is an upscale district famed for its luxury hotels. Parking is hard to find in San Francisco and most hotels will charge $20-$50 per day for the privilege. Lombard Street boasts a number of hotels offering free parking and local calls. Fisherman’s Wharf and North Beach are two centrally located districts to find hotel deals. You won’t see high rise hotels in these areas, so don't expect a spectacular view of the city from your hotel room window. However, they are located in proximity to cable car lines, restaurants, and shops, making them a convenient option.
